Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – La Liga president Javier Tebas arrived in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Monday to open the La Liga headquarters in Iraq.

The President of the Iraq Football Association (IFA), Adnan Darjal, received Tebas and his accompanying delegation in Baghdad.

Tebas will also attend the Baghdad derby match between Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and Al-Zawraa, scheduled at 8:00 p.m. at the Al-Madina International Stadium in Baghdad.

Darjal confirmed that the visit of the La Liga president reflects the strength of the partnership with the IFA.

“Tebas’s arrival to inaugurate La Liga’s headquarters in Baghdad is a distinctive move that will improve Iraqi football in several ways,” Darjal said.

The IFA President indicated football officials in Iraq are making efforts to make the derby between Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and Al-Zawraa appear in a distinctive way that could be a pattern for next season’s competitions.

La Liga and the IFA started working together in mid-2023 as part of a three-year effort that marks a turning point for the growth of football in the Gulf region.

This partnership will assist Iraqi football in developing in all directions using the long-term model that La Liga is globally recognized for.
