Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – A security source said on Monday that a restaurant was attacked using an explosive device in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in an attack that is the third against American restaurants within 24 hours.

The source told Shafaq News that a homemade bomb was placed near Lee’s and Chili House restaurants on Palestine Street in Baghdad.

There have been no recorded deaths or injuries since the bomb exploded in the early hours of Monday. Only material damages were reported.

The night before, unknown attackers assaulted two KFC restaurants, one near Palestine Street and the other near Karrada in the capital city.

A statement released by Baghdad Operations Command on Sunday clarified that the identities of the attackers at a KFC branch were discovered after reviewing security cameras at the scene, adding that their handguns were seized.

Famous American fast-food business KFC is one of several Western companies that have faced demands for boycotts due to their apparent ties to Israel. The profits of other well-known chains, such as McDonald’s and Starbucks, have been severely impacted by boycotts in the Muslim community.

Over 35,000 people have died as a result of Israel’s devastating military operation against the Gaza Strip, which has prompted the boycotts.

Israel launched its military operations in retaliation for an attack carried out by Hamas in southern Israel that killed around 1,200 people.
