Munthiriya border outlet revenues hit ID15b

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: The annual revenues of al-Munthiriya outlet, on the borders with Iran, hit 15 billion Iraqi Dinars (ID), according to a member of the Diala provincial council on Saturday. “Al-Munthiriya, one of the most important border outlets in Iraq, is supervised and its revenues managed by the central government without the participation of the executive or the legislative authorities in Diala,” Delir Hassan Saya told IraqiNews.com news agency. Saya, who is also a member of the Kurdistan Coalition bloc, called for transferring the management of the crossing to the local government in Diala. “There is a decision issued by the central government and the Iraqi parliament to allow local administrations to exploit the revenues of their border crossings,” he said. He noted that Diala is in bad need of reconstruction after “all the devastation caused by armed groups.” Diala is 57 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.   AmR (TP)/SR 323
