Iraqi PM takes part in Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza conference

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, reiterated Iraq’s initiative to establish a fund to support Gaza.
Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during a speech he delivered at the Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza conference held in Jordan, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The conference aims to coordinate Arab efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people besieged in the Gaza Strip.
The Iraqi Prime Minister stated that more than 80 percent of Gaza’s overall population, estimated at 2.3 million people, has become displaced.
Al-Sudani noted that the Israeli aggression against Gaza destroyed 370,000 housing units and damaged more than 53 percent of water and sanitation facilities.
The Palestinians’ suffering has exacerbated owing to a scarcity of food and medication, as well as a loss of drinking water and fuel, after the Israeli forces tightened the blockade and prohibited the entry of humanitarian aid.
“We cannot wait for months to mobilize the necessary resources to support Gaza,” the Jordanian King said. “The Gaza Strip’s crossings must be opened to deliver aid,” he added.
The Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, hailed the UN Security Council’s decision calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, stated that 75 percent of the population of Gaza has been displaced, indicating that 50,000 children are suffering from malnutrition in Gaza.
