Over 30 persons poisoned by chlorine gas in Baaquba

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: At least 32 persons have been poisoned and suffered from suffocation due to a chlorine gas leakage by a water compound in Baaquba city, the center of northeast Iraq ’s Diala Province , on Saturday, the Director of Diala Water Compound reported.   “Baaquba’s Abbara Water Compound had witnessed   the leakage of chlorine gas on Saturday, for the second time in two days, poisoning and suffocating 32 persons, who were all driven to hospital, but they left the hospital after treatment,” Engineer Murtada Jassim Hmoud told IraqiNews.com news agency.   An investigation committee, formed to uncover the reason for the leakage of the poisonous gas from the said compound, had denied “the existence of any negligence by the compound’s staff that caused the incident.”   The same compound had witnessed the leakage of chlorine gas on Friday that caused no human losses.   Baaquba, the center of Diala Province , is 57 km to the northeast of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)   332
