Three rockets fell close to U.S. camp in Diwaniya

DIWANIYA: Three Katusha rockets fell close to the U.S. Army Camp Echo, west of southern Iraq ’s Diwaniya city on Friday, but losses were not known, an Iraqi military source said.   “The U.S. Echo Camp, 3 km to the west of Diwaniya city had been target for 3 Katusha rocket attacks,” the military source told IraqiNews.com news agency, adding that the losses were not known.   He said the Iraqi security forces have managed to define the venue of the rocket-launching base and found a fourth rocket, ready for firing.   Meanwhile, eyewitnesses told IraqiNews.com that the rockets were fired from Um-Tabashy village, 5 km to the north of Diwaniya, followed by flight of U.S. choppers and broad presence of Iraqi security forces, searching for the rocket launchers.   The size of attacks against American forces had risen in Diwaniya Province over the past two months, including several attacks on Echo camp, used by the U.S. forces as military base.   Diwaniya, the center of the province carrying the same name, is 180 km to the south of Baghdad .   SKH (IT) 976
