Crocodile killed in Diwaniya, search continues for second
DIWANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Diwaniya‘s police killed a crocodile today that had taken up residence in the city river, amid reports that there is a second crocodile in the area. The Director of Environment Haidar Inaj told IraqiNews.com that the crocodile was one meter in length. Diwaniya‘s radio called on people to avoid swimming in the river at this time. Authorities are investigating the type of the crocodile, age, and how it reached the city river. It is the first case of a crocodile moving into the city’s river ever seen in the area. Some people speculate that the two crocodiles belong to city zoo. Diwaniya city, the center of Diwaniya province, lies 180 km south of the capital, Baghdad. RM (TS)/SR 627
