PM opens project for main street in Karbala

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, has opened on Sunday the project of Karbala’s main street, called Maitham al-Tammar Street, for a total cost of 28 billion (b) dinars, Karbala Governor said, adding that the new street connects northern Karbala with its south. “Prime Minister Maliki has opened during his current visit to Karbala, to attend the Karbala Day celebrations, on Sunday the Maitham al-Tammar Street, stretching for 4 km and costing 28 billion (b) dinars,” Governor Amaluddin al-Hir told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that Maliki had also laid the foundation stone for the entrance of Karbala city from the side of Hindiya township, with a 6 km length and 32 billion (b) dinar cost. “Maliki shall also lay the foundation stone for four housing projects, to be implemented by international companies, through investment, signed by the City’s Investment Commission,” he concluded. Karbala, the center of the Province carrying the same name, is 108 km to the south of Baghdad. SKH (TI)/SR 711
