7 wanted persons, including financier of armed groups, arrested in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: A joint force of north Iraq’s Kirkuk city has arrested 7 wanted persons, including a financier of the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq,” in two operations in Kirkuk on Monday, the city’s Police Director said. “A Joint Police and Army force, supported by U.S. forces, has managed to arrest six wanted persons, demanded according to Article-4 Terrorism, all members of the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq” and one of them was the main financier of the group in Hawija township, 80 km to the southwest of Kirkuk,” Lt. Brigadier, Sarhad Qader told IraqiNews.com news agency. Qader said that another offensive by the same joint forces have carried out an air-landing on Dibij village of Salah al-Din’s Tuz township, arresting another man, demanded according to Article-4 Terrorism, charged with having been behind planning and executing recent explosions in Salah al-Din and Kirkuk, along with being member of the said underground group. In a related development, a Kirkuk Police official said that an explosive charge blew up on Tuesday morning in a military vehicle, driven by a police officer in Hawija township, wounding one of its elements and causing material damage to the vehicle. The oil-rich city of Kirkuk is 280 km to the southwest of Baghdad. SKH (TI)/SR 159
