Iraqi officer, his bodyguard killed, 3 soldiers injured in Kirkuk attack

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi Army officer, one of his bodyguards, have been killed and 3 other soldiers were injured in an explosive charge blast west of northern Iraq’s city of Kirkuk on Wednesday night, a Kirkuk police director reported on Thursday.   “An Iraqi Army officer and one of his guards were killed, along with 3 soldiers injured in an explosive charge blast under their military vehicle close to Zab township, 85 km to the southwest of Kirkuk ,” the police director stressed.   He said the victims belong to Brigade 47 of the Iraqi Army’s 12 th Division, stationed in Kirkuk , adding that they were driven to hospitals and investigation began about the blast.   The oil-rich city of Kirkuk is 280 km to the northeast of Baghdad .   SKH (ST)
