3 out of 178 projects to refurbish Missan marshes finalized in 2010

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: Some 175 out of a total 178 projects to refurbish the marshlands in Missan have been slowing down during 2010, a local administration official revealed on Friday. “The ministry of state for marshes’ affairs had appropriated the sum of 70 billion Iraqi dinars during 2010 to carry out 178 service projects in eastern and western marshlands in Missan but only three, in the field of electricity, were finalized,” Jasseb Kadhem Himdan, chairman of the Missan Provincial Council’s Marshes Development Committee, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “A total 175 projects in the spheres of housing, agriculture, water resources, education, roads, water, health, communications and sanitary sewage are slowing down,” he added. Himdan noted that the sums spent over the marshes development plan during 2010 hit only two billion dinars out of a total appropriated sum of 70 billion dinars. “The remaining sum will be channeled into the appropriations of 2011 for Missan, to which 49.900 billion dinars were earmarked,” he said. Missan lies 390 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 72
