Japanese deputy foreign minister in Samawa to boost cooperation

MUTHANNA / IraqiNews.com: The Japanese deputy foreign minister arrived on Wednesday in Samawa to discuss the Japanese projects in the province and cooperation with the local government, while Muthanna governor called for opening a Japanese consulate in the province, The Japanese delegation held a meeting upon his arrival with Chairman of the local council, Abdullatief al-Hassani, before meeting the Governor Ibrahim al-Mayali and some senior officials in the province. The governor presented a draft of a cooperation protocol between Japan and Muthanna, which includes the province’s desire to open a Japanese consulate.   Samawa, the capital of Muthanna, lies 280 km south of Baghdad.   SH (TP)/SR 551
