Runaway prisoner captured in Talafar

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Security forces captured a runaway prisoners after he escaped from jail in Talafar 24 hours after he was detained, an official police source in Ninewa said on Saturday. “A force from the Talafar Police Department captured a wanted man on charges of involvement in terrorist operations against civilians and security men in the district that lies 60 km northwest of Mosul. The detainee, however, managed to escape from his jail in the anti-terror bureau 24 hours after his arrest,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Security forces launched a massive manhunt in search of the gunman and captured him in a nearby valley. He tried to escape, prompting the security men to open fire on him and wounded him in his leg,” he added. “The gunman was taken to the Public Talafar Hospital and is now receiving treatment under tight guard,” he added. Mosul, the capital city of the multi-ethnic volatile province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P) 4
