Defense Ministry nominee injured in blast

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Al-Iraqiya bloc’s candidate for the Ministry of Defense escaped an assassination attempt via a bomb planted in his car in the north of Mosul, the head of the Security and Defense Committee in Ninewa province said today.  Abdul Raheem Al-Shammari told IraqiNews.com that “General Khalid Al-Obaidi and his nephew were hit in the blast.”  “Their health conditions are stable”, he added.  No other details were reported.  Mosul, the center of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of the capital, Baghdad.
