Candidate for Iraq’s Defense Minister’s post leaves hospital after escaping assassination

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: The former candidate for the vacant Defense Minister’s post, Khalid al-Obeidy, has left a Mosul hospital, where he was admitted after an assassination attempt on Sunday, a Ninewa security source reported.   “The former candidate of al-Iraqiya Coalition for the Defense Minister’s post, Major-General, Khalid Mut’ib al-Obeidy, has left Mosul’s al-Salam Hospital on Sunday night, after the improvement of his health condition,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said Obeidy had run through an operation to extract some explosion sharpnels from one of his legs, leaving the hospital, under strict security observation.   Obeidy and one of his bodyguards were injured in an explosive charge attack in a Mosul garden on Sunday.   Mosul , the center of Ninewa Province , is 405 km to the north of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)
