Two suicide bombers killed in Shirgat, Salah al-Din

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: Two suicide bombers have been killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) accidental bast in a civilian car in Salah al-Din Province’s Shirgat township on Sunday night, a Shigat security source said. “An IED blew up accidentally inside a Corona civilian car in central Shirgat on Sunday night, killing two persons that were discovered to be suicide bombers,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Intelligence information had discovered that the two men killed in the blast had been among the wanted terrorist elements, who were planning to attack a religious celebration on the occasion of Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday occasion in Shirgat’s Gayara Mosque,” he said. Security forces have closed the streets leading to the township, in an inspection campaign searching for suspected elements, the source added. Shirgat is 100 km to the north of Salah al-Din‘s Tikrit city, which is 175 kms to the north of Baghdad. SKH (TP)/SR 766
