Iraqi Legislature escapes death, 3 bodyguards killed in attack on Tikrit hospital

SALAHAL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature from the Iraqi Islamic Party, Mutashar Hussein ULewy, has escaped an assassination attempt and three of his bodyguards were killed in a suicide attack against him in Tikrit’s Teaching Hospital on Friday night, according to a medical source on Saturday.   “Alewy has escaped an assassination attempt in Friday night, when a suicide bomber broke through Tikrit’s Teaching Hospital, killing three of his bodyguards, while he was inspecting a group of wounded people, victims of a previous suicide attack on Tikrit’s al-Farouq Mosque on Friday, the medical source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Tikrit’s security source said early on Friday that a suicide bomber, wearing an explosive belt, had blown himself up in al-Farouq Mosue in central Tikrit, killing 16 persons, including Judge Taleb al-Azzawi and three police officers.   “The number of injured people had reached 37, among them Salahal-Din’s Council Member, Mohammed Farhan, its Security Committee Chief, Mohammed Alayan, the Emergency Police Commander, Colonel Khalil al-Raml and al-Iraqiya Coalition’s Leglislature, Dr. Jamal al-Sheibani.   SKH (RT)
