Sadrist MP’s assassins captured

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Police forces have managed to arrest those involved in the murder of Sadrist MP Saleh al-Okeili, who died in an explosive charge attack in eastern Baghdad more than a week ago. “Those arrested by security forces at the scene of the blast confessed to their involvement in the killing,” the director of the National Command Center in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, Maj. Gen. Abdelkareem Khalaf, told IraqiNews.com. Ten days ago, Sadrist MP Saleh al-Okaili died in hospital of wounds he sustained from an explosion that targeted his car in eastern Baghdad. The Sadrist bloc, which holds 30 seats in the Iraqi Parliament, blamed the U.S. forces for the killing, citing their “negligence” to prevent the attack. “Most of those arrested are residents of eastern Baghdad,” Khalaf noted. “The committee, set up in light of instructions from the prime minister, has made a lot of effort that led us to one of the criminals, who sparked a broader investigation,” he added.
