Thi-Qar Council’s Member escapes assassination attempt

THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: The Chairman of the Energy Committee in southern Iraq ’s Thi-Qar Province , Hussein Hassab al-Awad, has escaped an assassination attempt, when an explosive charge blew off at his house in Nassirya city on Sunday, causing some material damage.   “An explosive charge, targeted against my house in southeast Nassirya at 1.00 am local time, on Sunday morning, but failed to cause any human losses, though it damaged the front part of the house and a government car, parked in its garage,” Awad told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Awad is member of al-Ahrar (Liberals) Bloc of the Shiite Sadrist Trend, which possesses 7 seats in Thi-Qar’s Council.   Nassirya, the center of Thi-Qar, is 380 km to the south of Baghdad .   SKH (ST) 824
