Sadrist Trend member arrested by US forces in Thi Qar

THI QAR / IraqiNews.com:  Thi Qar Provincial Council’s Sadrist member announced today that the U.S. forces arrested a member of the Trend, which is in violation of the security agreement signed between the two countries.  Hameed al-Ghizi told IraqiNews.com that the U.S. forces raided the residence of HaidaraAl-Araji, a Sadrist Trend member, in southern Nassiriya. He noted that the province’s local authorities had not been informed in advance.  On the other side, a security source told IraqiNews.com that “there was no American forces movement in the site of the arrest during that timing. We have contacted the U.S. forces and they informed us they have abided by the treaty,” which stipulates that an Iraqi accompanying force should go with them, as he added.  “A military force with American-made Hummers stormed the house at 3 a.m. and arrested Araji, who had arrived the previous day. They kept him inside the house for one hour before escorting him out,” one of Araji’s neighbors told IraqiNews.com.   Nassiriya, the center of Thi Qar province, lies 380 km south of the capital, Baghdad.  RM (TS)/SR    869
