U.S. Forces detain 7 persons in air-landing in Thi-Qar, South Iraq

THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: A U.S. Army force has detained 7 persons in an air-landing in southern Iraq’s Thi-Qar Province on Saturday, according to a security force.   “A U.S. Air Force had carried out a landing early Saturday at Fudeiliya village, 15 km to the east of Nassirya, the center of Thi-Qar Province, detaining 7 persons, charged with having carried out attacks against American forces in the area,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   The security source said that the detainees were “a municipality employee in Fudeiliya village and three of his sons, along with a member of the Province’s Emergency Battalion, who were all moved outside the Province.”   The city of Nassiriya had witnessed broad U.S. air force flights over the city since the first hours of the day.   The American forces had implemented three similar operations since the beginning of the current month, detaining 4 persons, among them a leader in the Shiite Sadrist Trend, an officer in southern Iraq’s Basra Airport and two civilians, belonging to Aal-Jubair Tribe.   Nassiriya, the center of Thi-Qar Province, is 380 km to the south of Baghdad.   SKH (IT) 202
