URGENT: Joint US-Iraqi operation kills soldier, injured another in Nassiriya

Thi-Qar / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi soldier has been killed and another soldier was seriously injured in a joint US-Iraqi security operation in al-Fudheiliya township, 15 km to the east of Nassiriya city, the center of southern Iraq ’s Thi-Qar Province on Monday, a security source reported.   “An American force, supported by a force of Iraq’s 10 th Army Division’s 38 th Brigade, had carried out early today (Monday) a joint security operation in the said township, detaining 4 suspected persons, one of them carrying American Nationality, killing an Iraqi soldier and seriously wounding another soldier, in a clash during the detention operation,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Al-Fudheiliya township had witnessed 2 months ago the detention of 7 persons in an air-landing operation, executed by an American force, but the majority of the detained persons were released later.   Nassirya, the center of Thi-Qar Province , is 380 km to the south of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)   521
