8 arrested in Thi-Qar

THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: Thi-Qar policemen captured eight suspects and wanted persons north and east of the city of al-Nassiriya on Sunday, a police department’s media & information source said. “Policemen from al-Jabayesh district, (60 km) east of Nassiriya, arrested a suspect and another one in al-Rifaie district, (90 km) north of the city,” Col. Sadiq al-Mashrafawi told IraqiNews.com. Meanwhile, Maj. Nasser al-Majidi, the media spokesman for the al-Nassiriya police department, said that six wanted persons were captured in a security operation in al-Jabayesh. “The arrested persons were referred to justice on charges of murder,” he said, adding a machine-gun, six RPG-7 launchers and other munitions were seized in the operation.
