Missan oil production to hit 170,000 bpd by 2011 end – official

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: Oil production in Missan will reach 170,000 barrels per day by the end of 2011, compared to 2010’s production of 100,000 bpd, according to the Missan Oil Company director on Sunday. “The 70,000 barrels increase come from the development of al-Halfaya oil field and the drilling of new wells,” Ali Maarij told IraqiNews.com news agency. “A Chinese company and its consortium of other companies had conducted seismological surveys, removed landmines and set three well-drilling towers in Halfaya, (35 km) east of al-Amara city, in a bid to drill more wells,” he said. A consortium of Chinese, French and Malaysian corporations had won a tender to develop Halfaya, a major oil field in Missan, during the second licensing round. Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south of Baghdad. AmR (TP) 1057
