Wassit signs MoU with Lebanon to build 5,000 housing units

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Wassit and Lebanon to build 5,000 housing units in the province, according to a local official on Thursday. “A delegation from the Wassit provincial council signed today (April 7) an MoU with a consortium of Lebanese-French firms to construct 5,000 housing units in the different districts of the province within the framework of the investment law,” Taha al-Rudeini, a member of the council’s information committee, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The agreement, signed in the Lebanese capital Beirut, is part of efforts to work on resolving the housing problem in the province,” he added. Wassit, like the majority of Iraqi provinces, is suffering an immense housing crisis, prompting some to build houses over an area not more than 50 square meters. Wassit lies 180 km southeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (TP) 644
