Iraq-Iran Free Market to open in southern Iraq’s Wassit Province

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: An agreement has been reached between Iraq and Iran to open a joint free market in southern Iraq‘s Wassit Province, the Province’s Council Chairman said on Tuesday. “Wassit’s Council had exerted big efforts to reach an agreement with the Iranian side to open a joint free market between the two countries at Zurbatiya border point, 90 km to the east of Kut, the center of Wassit Province,” Mohmoud Abdul-Rida told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said the opening of the joint free market “is taking place, being part of the Council’s plan to raise the economic status, due to neighborly Iran‘s progress on the economic, industrial and trade exchange fields.” “The Council has organized a new mechanism to facilitate the passage of Iranian visitors through Zurbatiya border point, to visit the sacred areas in Iraq,” he said.
