Sulaimaniya provincial council dismisses deputy governor
SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Head of the Sulaimaniya provincial council said that the council on Sunday decided to dismiss Jotiar Nouri, the province’s deputy governor, from his position due to “dereliction of duty,” but Nouri said that the decision is illegal. “Sulaimaniya governor, Dana Ahmed, attended today’s meeting of the council, and talked about differences with his deputy, Nouri,” Kawa Abdullah told IraqiNews.com. Both Ahmed and Nouri are affiliated with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), headed by the President of Iraq, Jalal Talabani. “Nouri will return to his former position as a member of Sulaimaniya provincial council,” Abdullah added. For his part, Nouri, commenting on the decision, said, “It is illegal because it did not rely on any evidence or document.” MH (P)/AmR 1
