Demonstration protesting arrest of Iraqi Captain

WASIT / IraqiNews.com: A demonstration was held in south Kut city protesting the U.S. forces for arresting an Iraqi officer without the knowledge of the local government. Hussein Lafta, a demonstration participant, informed IraqiNews.com that “the U.S. occupation forces conducted an aerial landing on the residence of Captain Mu’ala Jassim Al-Khafaji, arresting him and searching his house without the accompanying of any Iraqi force.” He added that the people taking part in the demonstration are expressing “their utmost resentment for the actions taken by U.S. combat forces, which is a violation for Iraqi sovereignty and the strategic agreement signed between the two countries.” RM (TP)/SR 538
