SECURITY / Over 100 rockets discovered in Wassit, South Iraq

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Southern Iraq Wassit Province’s security bodies have discovered more than 100 rockets in two separate operations, a police source said on Saturday.   “The Interior Ministry had discovered on Saturday about 108 rockets and 23 explosive charges in two security operations north and east of Wassit Province,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said the first operation was carried out by the Interior Ministry’s Rapid Deployment Forces which discovered 70 Katusha rockets at al-Jazeera area on the borders between Wassit and Diala Provinces, 120 km to the northeast of Kut, the center of Wassit Province.   “The second operation, implemented by Wassit Police, had discovered 21 Katusha rockets and 17 anti-aircraft rockets, along with 23 explosive charges,” he said, adding that both operations were carried out according to intelligence information.   Kut, the center of Wassit Province, is 180 km to the southeast of Baghdad.   SKH (IT) 596
