Over 40 suspected elements arrested in Wassit

WASSIT /  Awat al-Iraq: At least 42 wanted men and suspects have been detained by southern Iraq Wassit Province’s police, in a broad inspection operation in the Province’s townships and villages, the Province’s Police Commander said on Wednesday. “A joint force of our Police have arrested today (Wednesday) 42 persons, including a number of suspected and wanted men, in an operation, carried out by the Province’s police,” Major-General Hussein Abdul-Hadi told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said the arrest operation was carried out according to judicial orders, issued by the Investigation Judges in Iraqi Courts,” he said, adding that “the police is carrying out investigation with the detained persons, in order to send them to the Investigation Judge within 24 hours.” Kut, the center of Wassit Province, is 180 km to the southeast of Baghdad.
