Sand storm causes drop of several electric towers in Wassit, south Iraq

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A strong sand storm has struck southern Iraq’s Province of Wassit on Wednesday night, dropping several electric towers and decreasing the sight distance for few meters, eyewitnesses said.   They told IraqiNews.com news agency that the sand storm had struck Wassit’s Suweira, Aziziya and Numaniya townships, as from Wednesday afternoon and had increased in the evening, decreasing the sight distance and hampering the movement of citizens, along with dropping down a number of electric power towers.   Kut, the center of Wassit Province,is 180 km to the southeast of Baghdad.   SKH (PT) 522
