Man, wife, detained for killing taxi driver north of Kut

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Southern Iraq ’s Kut police have arrested a man and his wife, under charges of killing a taxi driver north of the city, its Police Commander reported on Saturday.   “Our police forces have detained two wanted persons, a man and his wife, for their involvement in killing a taxi driver in Aziziya township, 90 km to the north of Kut, the center of Wassit Province, stealing his car and selling it later,” Maj-General Hussein Abdul-Hadi told a news conference, attended by IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said the accused man had confessed during the preliminary investigation that he and his wife had hired a taxi and killed its driver and stole his car.   “The preliminary investigations against the man and his wife have been carried out and their confessions would be sent to the Investigation Judge on Sunday,” he said.   Kut, the center of Wassit Province , is 180 km to the southeast of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)
