Border pillars with Iran put down
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iranian Border Forces commander Hussein Dho al-Fiqari announced today the termination of border pillars with Iraq from the south to west of Iran, as reported by Iranian Mehr news agency. The agency added that the erection of the pillars is made in cooperation with the joint technical committee to demarcate the borders between the two countries. Fiqari added that “if the situation is reasonable, we will continue our work to north west Iran“, the agency said. ” We hope to complete our work by the next year”, Fiqari added. Iraq and Iran formed technical committees following Faka oil fields incident in Misan province, to mark the borders that were damaged during the Iraqi-Iranian war in 1980s. In December 2009, an Iranian force took hold of Faka oil field and raised the Iranian flag on the Iraqi pumping units. Faka oil field lies 500 meters from the joint borders, where an Iraqi military unit is camping one kilometer away from the site. RM (TI)/SR 212
