Over 45 persons arrested in Kirkuk, Diala provinces

BAGHDAD /IraqiNews.com: At least 47 persons, including wanted former Iraqi Army officers and members of former ruling Baath Party, have been detained in different parts of Iraq’s Kirkuk and Diala provinces, security sources reported. “Diala police have carried out a security operation in Miqdadiya township of northeast Iraq’s Diala Province on Sunday, detaining 15 former Iraqi Army officers and members of the dissolved Baath Party,” A Diaa security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Baaquba, the center of Diala Province, is 57 km to the northeast of Baghdad. “Diala police also detined 21 wanted persons, according to Article 15-terrorism in Khanaqin towhship, 155 km to the northeast of Baaquba and Khalis Township, 15 km to the north of Baaquba, along with Buhriz, 5 km to the south of Baaquba,” the security source added. In Kirkuk Province, its Police Director, Sarhad Qader told IraqiNews.com that a joint Army and Police force has detained 11 wanted men according to Article 4 – Terrorism, charged with being members of the Naqshabandiya group, in Hawija township, 65 km to the southwest of Kirkuk and Riyadh Towship, 45 km to the southwest of Kirkuk.
