Calls for Russia to strengthen scientific ties with Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com:  Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ali al-Adeeb called on Russia to increase its scientific and cultural cooperation with Iraq, according to a statement issued by the ministry. In the statement, as received by IraqiNews.com, Al-Adeeb received a Russian delegation headed by the Chairman of the Literary Federation in Russia. Adeeb stated that Russia has advanced experience in the scientific spheres needed by Iraq to develop its higher education. He called for increasing the number of Iraqi students to be accepted in the Russian universities, particularly in the engineering studies. The Russian delegation presented a statute of great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin to the university of Baghdad as a sign of mutual cooperation. RM (TP)/SR 21
