Maliki carries “semi-insoluble dossiers” to Washington – MP
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Independent MP Hassan al-Alawi said that Premier Nouri al-Maliki is carrying “semi-insoluble dossiers” during his visit to Washington, pointing that the visit comes in its “right trend before US forces withdrawal from Iraq”. Al-Alawi pointed out to IraqiNews.com that “there are pending dossiers, such as the present political crisis, the security situation following the withdrawal, immunity to trainers, latest developments on regions’ questions”, but he added that “the visit should come out with something new”. The White House announced that Premier Maliki will visit Washington on 12 December next upon an invitation by President Barrack Obama. He elaborated that both sides will “reconsider the situation if the armed group found a way after US withdrawal”. Alawi questioned whether the Americans will have the stand of a spectator, or US forces from Kuwait will intervene to assist Iraq?”. “This topic is of special importance because military statements tell that the Iraqi forces are incapable of facing these probabilities in the absence of US forces”. On granting immunity to US trainers, Alawi added America has the right to demand guarantees, but the problem that the officials or trainers are not subject to diplomatic rules”.
