URGENT / High ranking Army officer assasinated in Tikrit

SALAHAL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: A high-ranking Iraqi Army officer has been assassinated in Tikrit, the center of north-central Iraq’s Salah al-Din Province on Sunday, according to a Salahal-Din Police Operations source.”An explosive charge blew up against the motorcade of the Assistant Commander of the Iraqi Army‘s 4th Battalion, Col.Shahin Adid in al-Hajjaj village, 20 km to the north of Tikrit, killing him on the spot and seriously wounding his bodyguard,” the police source told IraqiNews.com news agency.The police source said the security forces began investigations in the details of the incident, imposing a cordon on the venue of the attack.Tikrit, the center of Salah al-Din Province, is 175 km to the north of Baghdad.SKH (TP)/SR78
