BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iranian President, Ahmadinajad has decided to visit northern Iraq‘s Kurdistan Region, to discuss the nature of border problems between both sides and to develop bilateral trade relations, a Kurdistan Legislature has announced on Thursday. “The discussions between Iranian President Ahmadinajad and Kurdistan Region‘s President, Massoud Barzani, scheduled to take place soon,shall be centered on border relations and the current border security, as well as trade relations, in order to develop economic relations between Kurdistan and Iran,” Shwan Ahmed Taha told IraqiNews.com news agency. Taha said that “Kurdistan Region had always tried to improve its relations with the states that have good relations with Iraq, as this is a serious issue by the (Kurdistan) Region to strengthen bilateral relations and joint interests,” Taha said, adding that “Iraq in general and Kurdistan Region,in special have had good relations along with problems with the neighboring states, and we are striving to develop relations with those states, in order to enable us settle the suspended problems.” A Kurdistan Region‘s official had announced that Iranian President would visit Kurdistan Region soon, in order to discuss the development of relations between both sides. Noteworthy is that Iraqi Kurdistan Region and Iran have suffered from certain problems, mainly stemmed from Iranian bombardment of areas on the Iraqi side of the joint borders, under justification of striking fighters and positions of the anti-Tehran PIJAK organization, taking refuge in rough mountainous areas bordering both countries.
