Zebari heads Iraqi delegation to Arab League on Syrian question

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi foreign minister Hoshiar Zebari headed the Iraqi delegation to the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council, to be held in Cairo, where expected that Iraq will declare its reservation on the sanctions against Syria. The statement added that “the minister confirmed Iraqi keenness to solve the issue and solidarity with the Syrian people”. “Iraq will express reservations on the sanctions to be imposed due to the economic relations between the two countries:, the statement added. The time limit given by the Arab League to Syria to sign the protocol for sending observers will end today . The meeting shall be held next Sunday, but in case the Syrian side did not abide by he decision, Arab economic ministers will meet to impose sanctions against it. The Arab League gave a final notice, ending today, Friday, for the Syrian authorities to sign the protocol on sending observers. The sanctions expected to cover flights, non-dealing with the Syrian Central Bank, stopping trade exchange except for strategic items affecting the daily life of the Syrian people, freezing government assets and terminating financial dealing with the government.
