Southern Iraq’s Wassit doctors close clinics in protest to tribal threats

WASSIT/ IraqiNews.com: Southern Iraq’s Wassit Doctors Syndicate has decided on Friday to close all the private clinics and cease work in them till further notice, in protest to tribal threats against the doctors, according to a Syndicate source on Saturday. “Our Syndicate has decided to cease work in all private clinics and close their doors in the face of patients, with effect from Friday and till further notice,in protest to violations against doctors in hospitals by citizens and the unleashing of tribal threats against them,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that “the last period had witnessed violations against a large number of doctors during their work, that had reached threats to sue them in courts and expose them for tribal threats, along with attacking them in the presence of ordinary people.” Kut, the center of Wassit Province, is 180 km to the southeast of Baghdad.
