Cop arrested, charged in Kut explosion

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com:  A security force arrested a cop implicated in the Kut explosion last August, security sources said today. The sources told IraqiNews.com that the cop, associated with Qaeda organization, was implicated in the bomb explosion mid of the city that resulted in 100 casualties. The arrested, Ahmed Abdullah al-Khalbousi, supervised the car bomb outside the province and helped its entry through different check points with the assistance of his friend who worked in the Internal Affairs Department at the Interior Ministry. The source added that the arrest was made due to intelligence information. A double explosion took place mid of Kut city in 15 August last,  that led to killing 40 and wounding 68 civilians. Kut, center of Wassit province, lies 180 km south east of the capital. RM (TS)/SR 425
