Man kills cousin for conflict over land irrigation in Wassit, south Iraq

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A man has killed his own cousin in a family conflict over the irrigation of an agricultural land north of the city of Kut, the center of southern Iraq‘s Wassit Province, on Friday night, a Wassit police source reported on Saturday. “A man has shot dead his 20-year-old cousin by a pistol on Friday night in Nu’maniya township, 40 km to the north of Kut,” claiming that their conflict had been because of priority to irrigate their lands in the area,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said the body of the victim was sent to al-Azahraa Hospital in Kut, whilst the police were searching for the assassin. Kut, the center of Wassit Province, is 180 km to the southeast of Baghdad.
