Political situation impacted by iya withdrawals – legislature

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature from al-Iraqiya Bloc, led by former Prime Minister, Nouri al-Malki, Salim al-Jiboury, has said on Monday that the withdrawal of a number of his Bloc’s members would have an impact on its political situation in general, stressing that “such a crisis would strengthen its cohesion.” “The recent crisis and the deteriorating conditions in the political arena, along with the internal crisis confronting the Bloc, will not impact its political situation,” Jiboury told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The current conditions require that attitudes be revisited, particularly the attitudes some of its personalities, along with the necessity of revising its communications with its masses, in a larger way,” he noted. Noteworthy is that the National Consensus Movement in southwestern Iraq’s Najaf Province, on Saturday announced its withdrawal from al-Iraqiiya Bloc and joining the so-called “Sons of Iraq for Changing Movement,” saying that the reason for its withdrawal had been the marginalization and the sectarian trend by the Bloc’s leaders and the absence of balancing towards the issue of Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimy, charged by the Interior Ministry of involvement in acts of terrorism. Previously, members of al-Wifaq (Consensus) Movement in southern Iraq’s Thi-Qar Province, had announced their complete withdrawal from the Movement and al-Iraqiya Bloc. The National Wifaq (Consensus) Movement, led by Iyad Allawi, had charged those who withdrew from it with “serving other influential parties and exploiting the current developments in the country.” SKH (TI)/SR 552
