Nujaifi cancels trip to Indonesia due to political crisis

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi cancelled his visit to Indonesia due to the present political crisis in the country. In a statement by his office, as received by IraqiNews.com, Nujaifi was to attend Islamic Parliamentary Federations Conference, due in Jakarta at the end of this month. Iraq was supposed to attend the conference with a high ranking parliamentary delegation, as the statement said. Iraq is suffering a political crisis since the end of last year, concentrated between Iraqiya bloc, headed by ex-premier Iyad Alawi and State of Law bloc, headed by premier Nouri al-Maliki. It was decided to hold a general national conference, under the patronage of President Jalal Talabani, to finalize the disputes between the two blocs, as well as other blocs on the division of power, according to Arbil agreements, that formed the present government.
