30 investment licenses granted in Basra 1/20/2012 3:27 PM BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Basra‘s Investment Commission announced today the granting of about 30 investment licenses in 2011 with a total cost of 1.101 billion Iraqi dinars. The head of the Commission Khalaf al-Badran disclosed that many foreign countries submitted offers to invest in the province, including companies from the United States, United Kingdom, China, South Korea, Turkey and the UAE. The licenses including six trade centers, five industrial, four agricultural and four recreational projects. Three housing projects and two power generation complexes were also granted, in addition to single projects in health, media, and garage. The commission is planning to create a competitive investment plan for 2012-2013 to enable the city to be one of the prominent ones in the region.
