Karbala petitions Guinness World Records1/20/2012 5:52 PM KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Karbala province’s governor disclosed today that he will petition the Guinness World Records to add the religions visits to the city as the world’s largest gathering in one location for a particular occasion, as well as making it the biggest supply of food in the world. “The religious visits are the biggest world demonstration with regards to the number of attendants gathered in one place,” Governor Amaluddin al-Hir told IraqiNews.com. He pointed out that the food supplied during these ritual is for free. Karbala has for the past two months hosted the presence of millions of visitors from different parts of Iraq as well as the world for a Shiite religious occassion. Approximate estimates said that the figures reached to 15 million visitors from Iraq and 500,000 from Arab and foreign countries.
