Karbala requires 500,000 housing units

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Karbala is in need of more than 500,000 housing units to resolve its housing crisis, the head of the Economic Commission in Karbala‘s Provincial Council announced today. “This crisis has increased over the last few years due to non-distribution of lands and the Housing Ministry‘s inability to build what it promised,” Mr Tariq Kutaifa told IraqiNews.com. The Ministry of Housing had previously announced that it would build 2 million housing units, with Karbala receiving 100,000 from this total, but this was never implemented. RM (TP)/SR 379
