Iraqi-Iranian railways connection agreed

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Transport Minister signed with his Iranian counterpart a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to connect the railway network through Shalamcha and Khisrawi border vents and canceling tights on airways flights. Iranian Mehr news agency reported that both sides signed other MOUs in transport and shipping fields, permitting both countries’ trucks to move freely in others’ country. Iranian minister Ali Nikzad disclosed twinning between Iranian Khurmshahr sea terminal with that of Iraq Um Qasr. He added that about one million Iranian visitors in Iraq and half million Iraqis in Iran necessitates increasing usage of border vents and flights. Nikzad pointed out  that trade exchange between the two countries reached 7 billion dollars. RM (TS)/Sr 978
