BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Wednesday discussed recent developments in Syria and agreed on stopping violence in Syria, reaching a dialogue that would lead to a political solution and preventing any possible foreign intervention, a statement by Maliki’s office said.This came during a phone call between Maliki and Medvedev that also tackled vistas of bilateral relations and means to bolster them.The two leaders converged on a political solution to the crisis in Syria that would be conducive to attaining the legitimate objectives of the Syrian people and precluding foreign intervention that could spark further complications and suffering, the statement added.Medvedev expressed his country’s wish to cooperate with Iraq in the economic and trade fields and said he would send a delegation to Baghdad within the next few days to discuss bilateral relations.
