Basra investment officials give thumbs up to Dutch projects

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Two Dutch groups said they were ready to invest Basra as the southern Iraq province approved the establishment of a Dutch city.The project includes infrastructure, trade centers, schools, green areas and utilities comprising 170 service buildings that suit the nature and climate of Basra, a representative of a Dutch corporation said.Hayder Ali Fadel, Vice-Chairman of the Basra Investment Commission, said the project would contribute to solving part of the overpopulation problem in the province.Basra, located 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, needs 200,000 housing units, according to ministerial statistics.
